Danfoss is looking for PLC Engineering Manager – Industrial Refrigeration at our Waynesboro, PA facility. As a member of the Global Headquarters for Industrial Refrigeration System Controls, the PLC Engineering Manager is responsible for providing industrial refrigeration technical expertise to our PLC Engineering teams supporting Engineer-To-Order PLC System Controls.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: • Support the PLC Engineering Team in creating, developing, and documenting PLC programs for industrial refrigeration systems utilizing Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, FactoryTalk SE, Wonderware, and Ignition • Create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up. • Support the Sales Organization and Inside Sales with technical expertise for quotations and customer discussions. • Leverage refrigeration expertise to assist in the resolution of escalated troubleshooting activities, when necessary • Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the project schedules and the resources in the PLC Engineering Department • Supervise, guide, direct, and develop the PLC Engineering Team • Define competencies for successful performance and ensure that employees receive appropriate motivation, recognition, and training development opportunities for continuing growth • Optimize engineering performance by contributing engineering recommendations to strategic planning and reviews; preparing and completing action plans to improve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals; resolving engineering issues; identifying trends; determining system improvements; and implementing change • Meet departmental objectives by forecasting requirements and preparing an annual budget for manpower, equipment, and training, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions • Maintain base of knowledge by remaining current on industry codes and requirements, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations. • Accomplish engineering and organization mission by collaborating with other members of management. • Other duties as required
Background & Skills
The ideal candidate possesses these skills:
• Bachelor’s degree (Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics) or equivalent from an accredited college, or equivalent experience • Experience with Industrial Refrigeration systems and principles • Ability to read, write, and develop PLC programs • 7-10 years experience with PLC controls (Allen-Bradley Studio 5000/Factory Talk) • Wonderware experience is strongly preferred • Ignition experience is a strongly preferred • Familiarity with VFDs, starters, and circuit breakers (220V & 460V primarily) preferred • Ability to create and read wiring diagrams • Strong time management and project management skills to maintain engineering project and production schedules • Working knowledge of communication protocols and controls networking principles • Strong technical and analytical proficiency with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a team environment • Results-oriented and "hands-on" approach • Possess strong organization skills, strong customer focus, and orientation • Excellent communication skills – oral & written • Occasional travel domestically (10-20% per year)
