Food Safety Role & Responsibility:
As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, HACCP, Food Safety and Quality Statement, FSSC 22000/Global Food Safety Policy/Food Safety Goals, Visitor/Food/Site Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Blood borne Pathogens.
The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.
Summary:
Responsible for maintenance of Cooling systems, refrigerated warehouse and process spaces, refrigerated production processes and all related refrigeration equipment (compressors, condensers, evaporators, valve sets, vessels, insulation repair, process controls, electrical troubleshooting).
Job Function Statements - Essential Functions:
- Performs routine inspections, repairs and maintenance on all cooling processes, ammonia refrigeration, halocarbon refrigeration, and associated equipment at the facility. Assists repair contractor as needed.
- Troubleshoots process controls to the PLC level as required.
- Ensures proper water treatment practices relative to the condensing tower.
- May serve as team lead on more complex projects or independently perform standard assignments either for a single area of the plant or across departments as needed.
- Uses computer based programs to support various activities.
- Serves on all PSM related teams, conducts PHA's, and pre-startup safety inspections.
- Ability to work in loud, wet and cold (32 degrees - 36 degrees) manufacturing environment.
- Employee will complete any and all duties/work as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Experience with cooling processes, ammonia refrigeration, halocarbon refrigeration and vacuum pumps, HVAC systems is required.
- Knowledge of electrical power maintenance (480V) and process controls troubleshooting (PLC level to the device level) required.
- Basic knowledge of condensing tower water treatment practices required.
- Must own personal tools and be capable of working with a team or independently.
- Able to use PC with basic skills in word processing and e-mail and able to support the use of an electronic PC based maintenance program.
- Mechanical experience.
- Refrigeration compressors, air compressors, condensers, purging, and water treatment.
- Forklift certification, aerial work platform, and boom lift certification.
- This position will require computer skills for inputting of work, schedule, and work orders using D7i, Maintenance software.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Must be IIAR certified as operator I and operator II.
Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- Experience with HVAC system operation and maintenance a plus.
- Experience with compressed air systems, nitrogen systems, Industrial waste water, potable water systems, operations a plus.
Experience:
Must have worked in a fast-paced, fresh-food processing environment on process/production equipment for a minimum of 2 years or equivalent.
Education/Training: IIAR Certified as Ammonia operator I and Operator II.
