MGX Welders are responsible for performing a wide range of welding operations as required in the assembly, disassembly, fabrication and/or repair of company products and parts following standard or accepted methods and procedures.
This position will be located at the Houston, TX branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Braze, cut, and fabricate equipment using gas and electric torches or arch welders.
- Grind components to prepare for rebuilds.
- Build up worn or defective surfaces
- Use burning equipment to dismantle assemblies to cut material to specified sizes.
- Regulate equipment.
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of crane components for remanufacturing or repair.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant welding experience.
- Must have previous experience with grinding and fitting.
- Must be able to read schematics and blueprints; knowledge of welding symbols required.
- Must be able to use metrics as well as standard measurements.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be a team player with the ability to follow instruction with little to no supervision as well as the ability to accommodate occasional overnight travel.
- Certification in the following is preferred:
- AWS D1.1
- SMAW/Stick-plate and pipe welding in all positions (3G, 4G, 6G)
- GMAW/Mig/Fcaw plate and pipe welding in all positions (3G, 4G, 6G)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.
