Description
Under direction, to coordinate the work activities related to picking up, receiving, storing, and delivering a variety of tools, materials, equipment and other related items to a County warehouse, facility or construction job site.
Typical Tasks
Reviews, updates and maintains accurate informational materials, parts, supplies and related items on an inventory database system;
Prepares monthly list of materials that are available and used for construction maintenance and repair work;
Initiates processing of invoices and purchase orders for supplies and equipment;
Coordinates the pickup and delivery of materials/supplies with priority list and time line for completion;
Coordinates with supervisors, leads, and workers to assure that materials/supplies needed on job site are available, and schedules, receives and delivers ordered materials to the job site;
Operates and drives trucks, vans, forklifts and other material handling equipment;
Assures that preventative maintenance inspections and repairs are performed on small tools and equipment kept in tool crib and readily available for use;
Coordinates contracted repairs, warranty and recall work orders and completed repair invoices with outside vendors;
Initiates and resolves issues with vendors and trades staff;
Monitors warehouse equipment inventory and tools, and receives and stocks warehouse parts;
May provide lead supervision over warehouse staff and others as assigned;
May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker, as required;
Performs related works as required.
Employment Standards
Sufficient education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the above tasks and the possession and application of the following knowledge and abilities.
Training and Experience: The following knowledge and abilities are acquired through possession of a high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience ordering, purchasing, issuing and inventorying facility construction and maintenance materials, equipment, parts, accessories and tools; one (1) of the required years of experience must include working in materials management for a facilities maintenance organization preparing and/or processing material requests.
Possession of a valid California driver's license prior to appointment, and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County Driver's permit.
Special Requirement:
Possession of a forklift operator certification within six (6) months of appointment or must vacate the position. Certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Pass Probation and Sheriff back-ground check, and obtain and maintain security clearance.
Knowledge of:
Inventory maintenance principles including ordering, stocking and warehousing practices;
Facility maintenance and construction materials, parts, equipment, and tool suppliers;
Material, equipment, small tools and parts used in construction and facility maintenance;
Building maintenance, shop practices and warehouse equipment operation;
Basic mathematic computations;
Facility maintenance and construction;
Office practices and procedures including filing systems;
Computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets and databases;
Warehouse database and tracking software;
Principles and practices of lead supervision and training.
Ability to:
Use a keyboard with moderate speed and high level of accuracy;
Read and understand computer generated reports;
Analyze information and plan effective course of action;
Schedule, order, receive, pickup, and deliver material and equipment;
Understand and use database programs;
Utilize computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and/or warehousing related database programs, to write reports;
Provide lead supervision and guidance to assigned staff, and train others in warehouse and facility construction and maintenance terminology and procedures;
Establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted the course of business.

Safely move and lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds;
