Our Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) is a laboratory school that serves the community by meeting the needs of children and their parents. We also provide a location for observations, demonstration of teaching methods, and experience for PLNU students preparing for careers working with children. We are a laboratory in human relationships where children, parents, students, and teachers interact, play, work, and learn together.

Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative support for Academic Director, Site Director, laboratory teachers and the laboratory educational programs of the Early Childhood Learning Center.
Greet and direct students, families and visitors accordingly
Receive, screen and route calls/e-mails in the office
General bookkeeping and finance
Manage and sort mail
Prepare general outgoing correspondence
Facilitate preparation and coordination of parent education, early childhood director’s and ECLC events
Facilitate preparation of student employee and university student training meetings
Facilitate California state community care licensing documentation and regulations for all staff, field experience students and children of the ECLC
Facilitate enrollment/admissions in conjunction with the directors
Schedule tours
Maintain wait list
Maintain files and records of children, staff, student employees and field experience students
Create, edit, maintain communication, publications, statistical reports (children’s directory, calendar, handbook, parent education materials, admissions/registration materials, workshop training materials, event publicity, laboratory review, billing and finance reports, laboratory teacher’s weekly e-mails, newsletters, name tags for staff, students and visitors, web maintenance)
Process book orders for staff and families
Responsible for Emergency Response in their assigned building.
Additional Functions and Responsibilities:
Demonstrate a sense of urgency, initiative, responsiveness and attention to detail
Anticipate a variety of needs and problems and proactively suggest approaches and solutions
Perform other related duties and assignments as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Two years general office experience; proficiency with Word and Excel and ability to quickly learn appropriate software. Ability to type 45 wpm.
A positive, friendly disposition with the ability to effectively communicate and exercise good human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with college students, young children, parents, university faculty and staff and Point Loma community.
Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
Detail focused and ability to complete work assignments in a timely manner with frequent interruptions.
Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.
This position is contingent on the successful completion of a background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting for periods greater than one hour. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
