Team/Department Description:
Moodys U.S. Consumer ABS Surveillance Team in the structured finance department is responsible for monitoring ratings on a wide variety of securitizations that are backed by consumer assets, including auto loans and leases, auto floorplan, student loans, unsecured consumer loans and timeshare loans. The team produces timely and high-quality research on developing trends in these asset classes through sector and issuer comments and in-depth research reports, and also participates in industry conferences and conducts investor/issuer meetings.
Role/Responsibilities:
This is a senior role on the US Consumer ABS surveillance team and the individual will be responsible for overseeing the surveillance workflow, analytics and other aspects of monitoring U.S. Consumer ABS transactions. The candidate will be expected to chair rating committees and oversee the credit analysis of the transactions, provide training and guidance to lead analysts and conduct appropriate market dialogue around transaction credit analysis. The individual is also expected to lead critical high-profile projects intended to enhance Moody's thought leadership in credit markets and enhance operational efficiencies.
As a senior member of the team, the individual will be a crucial contributor to and collaborator on the development and execution of the Consumer ABS teams overall strategic efforts, contributing to the surveillance evolution, engaging in outreach with market participants, management within risk framework and regulatory obligations, and development of the teams talent base.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the development and execution of the teams strategic goals. Work collaboratively with team members, senior leaders and other teams to ensure the team achieves its objectives.
Chair rating committees and deal reviews. Proactively undertake and independently lead/supervise complex analytical, process and efficiency improvement projects.
Lead initiatives to strengthen rating and research quality, standards, depth, and timeliness. Identify, manage, and actively engage in various methodological, process & operational enhancement projects. Ensure projects are properly supported, resourced and kept on track.
Mentor, develop, and motivate analysts to achieve their full potential to produce high quality analytics, research & outreach in an efficient manner. Support the teams recruitment efforts.
Ensure that policies and procedures and best practices are always consistently followed by all team members.
Maintain and enhance a team culture that provides deep, timely, and transparent insights to our issuers and investors. Ensure proactive and responsive communication with customers, including arrangers, issuers, servicers, investors, and outside market participants
Maintain a solid understanding of relevant industry landscape and current market trends affecting credit. Represent Moodys on all ABS related topics in internal and external forums.
Contribute to the research efforts of the team by identifying research ideas and publishing high-quality research, including articles and in-depth reports on credit issues
Champion D&I initiatives and ensure appropriate team attendance to and engagement in D&I events/discussions.
Qualifications:
Substantial credit/risk assessment experience for over 10 years gained from a credit rating agency, financial institution, asset management or equivalent.
Deep knowledge of credit analysis & extensive understanding of financial markets, Structured Finance and Moodys methodologies. In depth understanding of RMBS market and structures.
Ability to conceptualize, plan, initiate and executes strategies within the team and/or across the franchise to meet objectives.
High level of integrity, highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and able to meet tight deadlines.
Strong quantitative and well-developed analytical skills with the ability to collate information into reasoned arguments.
Ability to mentor and develop team members at various levels.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Strong modelling skills and ability to perform cash flow analysis using analytical tools, or willingness and ability to develop these skills
Sound judgment and highest ethical standards
Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Strong teamwork skills and works well with colleagues with different viewpoints
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of and work experience in consumer ABS is required
Master's degree or advanced law degree is highly desirable
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is[[$231,400]]-?[[$335,500]], depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
