REQUIRED EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
RN with Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Minimum of five (5) years experience in health care,
preferably in an outpatient setting, with supervisory experience. Current license or valid permit
to practice professional nursing in Texas.
JOB SUMMARY:

monitors and oversees the quality, quantity and mix of nursing staff assigned to the clinics on a
daily basis.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:
• Personnel Management
o Defines clinical personnel requirements and position competencies for the practice
with the Director of Nursing.
o Continuously monitors staffing levels and adjusts as appropriate to meet various
clinical care and financial objectives.
o Promptly interviews, hires, and orients clinical personnel.
o Objectively evaluates/documents performance of personnel and takes corrective
action as appropriate.
o Assures that nursing staff provides patient care in accordance with hospital,
practice and Outpatient Clinic policies and procedure, established nursing
standards of care and practice, and as defined by the state of Texas.
o Coordinates clinic nursing functions such as assessment, patient teaching, and
medical record documentation. Coordinates overall patient flow process with clinic
management.
• Administrative and Nursing Liaison:
o Participates in clinical department, and hospital-wide programs affecting the
delivery of care.
o Represents the clinical practice when meeting and working with other components
of UTMB.
o Assists in conducting orientation programs for nursing personnel.
o Finance / Account Management:
o Works with the Clinic Manager to develop / modify supply, personnel, capital
equipment, and special program budgets.
• Leadership:
o Maintains a continuous physical presence within the clinic and responds to
requests for assistance.
o Creatively identifies opportunities for improvement in all aspects of the clinic.
o Facilitates patient flow, communication, and problem resolution.
o Assists with implementation of policies and programs.
o Serves as a resource person and role model for staff.
o Encourages participation in practice activities.
o Assists nursing staff in evaluating patient care needs.
o Assists with staffing when necessary by performing nursing functions.
• Project Coordination:
o Serves, as requested, on task forces, work groups, or committees.
o Leads / participates, as appropriate, in collaborative team approaches to
developing and enhancing an integrated system of care.
• Communication:
o Effectively communicates with medical, clinical and clerical staff to ensure the
efficient operations of the clinic.
o Effectively communicates with patients and visitors to resolve inquiries.
o Recognizes the need, and responds in a timely manner, to inform Director of Clinic
Operations / Director of Nursing of operational issues within areas of responsibility.
o Maintenance of Environment and Security:
o Identifies and promptly addresses unsafe practices and other safety issues in the
clinic.
o Ensures staff participation in all fire safety, infection control and other mandatory
training.
• Medical Office / Administrative Policies:
o Assists in the development and implementation of medical office or administrative
policies related to the delivery of care.
o Continuing Education:
o Actively participates in continuing education activities.
o Prepares and presents information to co-workers after attending special programs
and workshops as appropriate.
o Accepts responsibility for personal professional development and demonstrates
desire for personal growth.
• Other:
o Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to
monitor and enforce compliance.

League City is primary location but has responsibilities in Clear Lake, Texas City and Galveston as well

Possible nights and weekends but not regularly
