The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is seeking an exceptional Student Investment Analyst with demonstrated interest in investments/asset management to assist the Investment Strategies team in managing the Tribe's sovereign wealth fund. The sovereign wealth fund is managed similar to leading university endowments, focused on long-term growth-oriented investments across all asset classes and heavily weighted toward alternative investments such as private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and private real assets. This position will provide the Student Investment Analyst with a front-row seat to support managing an institutional endowment-style investment portfolio including asset-class and market research, asset allocation, manager diligence and selection, performance analysis, portfolio management, and peer benchmarking.
Under the direction of the Investment Strategies Director, the Student Investment Analyst will work closely with current Investment Analysts and assist the team with ad-hoc projects to enhance our investment processes as well as various team-directed research projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1.Helps conduct in-depth asset class analysis and reviews of go-forward opportunity sets.
2.Research and analytical projects as determined by the CIO and Director of Investments.
3.Assists the Investment Analysts on researching priorities of the investment team.
4.Assist in various data aggregation and analysis involved in the ongoing monitoring of the investment portfolio across asset classes.
5.Assists in monitoring external public and private asset managers for investment performance, attribution, risk and opportunity set research; statistically compare investment managers on various metrics.
6.Help prepare for (research, analysis) and participates in quarterly calls with current and prospective investment managers.
7.Ad hoc team projects with various relationship management databases and performance/portfolio management software systems.
8.Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications
Enrolled in a four-year undergraduate BA/BS program.
A rising senior, graduating in the following summer.
Demonstrated interest in investing and global markets, economics, and investment management.
Strong analytical mindset with foundational understanding of economic, accounting, and corporatefinance theories.
Strong understanding of quantitative techniques.
Strong research and problem-solving skills essential.
Strong demonstrated leadership roles and capabilities.
Strong demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment, be proactive, and able to handle confidential material a must.
Critical skills include intellectual curiosity and drive, attention to detail, accuracy, accountability, organization, timeliness, and a proactive and collegial communication style.
Proficient in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
