Position Overview:
The Paralegal is responsible for providing legal, analytical, and administrative support to the legal team, with a heavy focus on corporate compliance, revision of policies and contracts, and guidance on litigation issues as needed. This position requires the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and work with various departments efficiently.
Primary Responsibilities:
Drafting of corporate agreements and other documents with various Department Heads and Department Stakeholders
Assist General Counsel in reviewing contracts and drafting legal documents
Review and provide guidance on litigation matters in various Departments Maintain Legal and Compliance team contract repository and monitor contract deadlines
Perform initial review of various legal documents, agreements and marketing materialsReview Buyer’s Agreements in conjunction with the Vice President and Senior Vice President of Merchandising
Provide Counsel on Human Resources Matters, including but not limited to Policies, Procedures, investigations, litigations, and compliance with state and local employment laws.
Provide feedback to Human Resources on job descriptions in accordance with FLSA, and all employment laws
Support and advise on transaction activities for New Store Openings Research and analyze legal sources such as statutes, regulations, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare summaries and legal documents Work continuously with cross functional teams including HR, Operations, Buying, Logistics, Sales and Marketing Prepare and deliver training on various legal matters that affect the employees of the company
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Paralegal is required
Bachelor’s Degree and Paralegal Certification required
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Superior work ethic, with the ability to self-start and operate with little supervision.
Skilled working in a fast -paced environment with a willingness and aptitude to learn various computer systems as necessary
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while delivering consistent, quality work-product to General Counsel and Department Heads throughout the company
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
Ability to see, hear, and speak regularly
Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
