Reporting to the Associate Director, High Net Worth, the High Net Worth (HNW) Research Analyst is a key member of the Prospect Development team in the Yale Office of Development. The HNW Research Analyst plays a critical role in supporting fundraising efforts by conducting in-depth research on high-net-worth prospects. HNW Research Analyst insights and analysis help inform strategic decision-making processes, including the identification and cultivation of potential donors. Primary responsibilities include conducting comprehensive research on high-net-worth prospects to identify philanthropic interests and capacity for giving; working as an integrated part of relevant frontline teams and maintaining close working partnerships with gift officers in Principal Gifts, Friends Philanthropy, International Development, and Parent Gifts to share insights, inform prospect assignments, and support cultivation efforts.
In addition, the HNW Research Analyst analyzes and interprets financial, philanthropic, and biographical information to assess prospects' ability and propensity to contribute to campus-wide fundraising initiatives; collaborates with the Associate Director and other team members to develop innovative prospect identification and research strategies aligned with organizational goals and fundraising priorities; prepares clear and concise research reports and profiles to communicate findings and recommendations to frontline teams and organizational leadership; maintains accurate and up-to-date donor records in our database, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality at all times; monitors news channels to identify prospect news and wealth events in real time and transmits meaningful and actionable news items to gift officers as appropriate.

Identifies, investigates, analyzes, organizes and evaluates information yielded from a variety of sources to determine a donor prospect’s financial capacity, ability to give, philanthropic interests, and relationship to the University. 2. Devises research strategies and methods to identify potential donors and/or new donor prospects. Identifies the type of information to look for and determines what relevant donor information (biographical and financial, philanthropic interest, history of previous donations, prior university solicitation, etc.) is needed to craft fundraising and cultivation strategies. 3. Identifies new sources of wealth and tracks existing sources to strengthen donor relationships with the University. 4. Analyzes financial publications and corporates disclosures to deepen relationships with current donors and to identify new donor prospects to build a robust University donor base. 5. Writes donor prospect briefings for development team. 6. Investigates new donor prospects and constantly re-evaluates and monitors established donor sources. 7. Participates in planning long – and – short-term development strategies with the team to solicit funds and meet department fundraising targets. 8. Assesses client needs, manage own schedules. 9. May present lectures at industry conferences. 10. May perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
