UNIT DESCRIPTION:
Memorial 4 East consists of 20 private rooms. Each room has telemetry capability. The unit is designed to provide care for adult patients requiring critical care. 4 East patients include: general medical patients requiring monitoring of cardiac rhythms, oxygen supplementation, blood administration and other various treatments. Common diagnoses for 4 East are acute GI bleed, pneumonia and sepsis. Patients requiring inotropic therapy for cardiac or renal disease may be maintained. In acute situations, appropriate interventions may be initiated for stabilization with subsequent timely transfer to an intensive care unit.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:

QUALIFICATION:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Ohio
- IV certified
- Current BLS certification
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic nursing service, knowledge, and skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based practice
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation
- Identifies and reports changes in patients’ status to Registered Nurse for evaluation
- Documents nursing activities accurately and in a timely manner
- Implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment under the direction of the Registered Nurse
- Administers treatments and other direct care
- Prepares and administers medications as prescribed
- Administers peripheral IV medications as prescribed within the scope of licensure under the supervision of the Registered nurse
- Observes and evaluates residents’ responses to medications
- Identifies and promptly communicates adverse drug reactions to the Registered Nurse
- Collects specimens as ordered
- Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues
- Collaborates with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice
- Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice

WORKING CONDITIONS:
