Salary Range: $165,984. - $232,377.
Position Summary:
The Director of Rehabilitation position may be filled by a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist. Manages the day-to-day operations of the Rehabilitation Services Department. Performs onboarding, orientation, mentoring and support for rehabilitation staff. Functions as liaison and resource regarding scope of practice within their specialty area. Develops and executes programs to meet patient care, staffing, and/or community relations needs. Establishes and implements policies, procedures, and standards of practice for the treatment of patients. Evaluates staff members’ job performance. Participates in fiscal planning and implementation for all areas of the rehabilitation services department. Maintains the department quality improvement program. Provides direct patient care oversight in area of clinical expertise as needed. Promotes and mentors effective communication and facilitates daily problem solving. Utilizes the LEAN management system daily to promote active participation among the rehabilitation staff and to educate staff on updates and current changes to work flow within the rehabilitation department. Assures appropriate resources to manage patient rehab care throughout the healthcare system. Patients will include inpatients and outpatients. Directly oversees the outpatient neuro rehab program.
In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.
Reports to: Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer
Supervises: Physical Therapists, Lymphedema Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, and Rehabilitation Aides; Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, EEG Technicians, and Business Assistant
Qualifications:
Education: Holds appropriate degree or equivalent for clinical specialty area (i.e. BA/BS or MA/MS, clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy or MA/MS in Speech-Language Pathology).
Licensure: Holds licensure for clinical specialty area in the State of California. Maintains current Basic Life Support Provider Certification from the American Heart Association.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in an acute care setting, with multidisciplinary rehabilitation.
Skills:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Rehabilitation.
Familiar with standard Rehabilitation equipment.
Knowledge of administrative and supervisory principles and practice.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct a Rehabilitation Program.
Knowledge of practices of all Rehabilitation disciplines and other medical disciplines.
Ability to develop and maintain effective leadership and working relationships.
Ability to analyze situations and take appropriate action.
Ability to express oneself clearly in speaking and writing.
Emotional stability, personal and professional integrity, and interest in growth and learning.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. In conjunction with Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer defines and establishes the department’s philosophy, goals and objectives directed at achieving high quality patient care in accordance with the mission and strategic plan of the organization.
2. Conferences with pertinent professionals as necessary regarding patient care.
3. Performs assessment and data collection in an ongoing and systemic manner.
4. Assesses developmental learning, or other special needs of patients, families and staff.
5. Provides developmentally appropriate care to support patients through the program.
6. Assures that staff competencies are appropriate and validated.
7. Evaluates the effectiveness of the Rehabilitation staff and adjusts priorities as needed.
