Maryland Transit Administration ( MTA) is recruiting for a Bus Transportation Instructor. The Bus Transportation Instructor is responsible for conducting classroom and practical training for Bus Operators and other transportation personnel. This position is responsible for qualifying personnel in the operation of MTA buses, Mobility and other transit vehicles. This position will also be responsible for facilitating the completion of required training courses in accordance with the MTA Bus/Mobility Operator certification program; conducting recertification, refresher (return to duty), post-accident, and desensitization training as required for operating personnel; and providing training and testing for CDL licensure. The Bus Transportation Instructor will schedule classroom space and audio-visual equipment for training classes and programs; assist in the preparation or revision of audio-visual aids, literature and other training resources; and maintain training records, attendance records and performance evaluation for all students. This position must have the ability to work effectively with MDOT MTA management and division personnel to determine training needs and develop appropriate training programs to meet those needs. This position will work extensively with Microsoft Office programs, Trackit and MTA's Learning Management System. The Bus Transportation Instructor is expected to work weekends and nights, so flexibility is required.
This position is located in Baltimore City, Maryland.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. *At least one and a half years of the required experience must have involved instructional experience in transit operations in either a classroom setting, on-the-job training, or Road/Route training.
*This statement contains a Selective Qualification, which is more focused in scope than the Minimum Qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or bona-fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skills or abilities).
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION: 1. Additional experience in administrative or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-to-year basis for the required general experience
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

Licenses & Certifications
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
Candidate must possess a CDL Class B license with a "P" endorsement which is valid and in the State of Maryland and a copy must be submitted at the time of application.
