About Consumer Advocacy
Sitting within the Platform Solutions segment at Goldman Sachs, the Consumer Advocacy team is seeking an experienced individual at the Vice President level to join the team in the US and manage the Consumer Advocacy team. With an increased focus on consumer protection and fair and responsible banking practices, this individual will partner closely with the first, second and third lines of defense to advocate for consumer interests and apply a UDAP/UDAAP-focused lens to key initiatives across the business.
Responsibilities:
Manage centralized Consumer Advocacy team responsible for internal and external customer advocacy efforts to drive business outcomes and profitability while protecting the firm against reputational and regulatory risk; key functions include complaint reporting and analytics, fair and responsible banking program, regulator engagement strategy, trade association participation and other retail banking industry engagement efforts
Oversee and manage diverse 20+ person team
Serve as liaison with key regulators and business stakeholders to manage regulatory projects end-to-end
Manage regulatory operations for consumer businesses, including oversight of regulatory actions, large-scale remediation projects and regulator relationships
Project manage cross-functional, regulatory projects with strong attention to detail
Serve as administrator for senior level governance forums to drive correct level of engagement, and outcomes.
Understand and maintain regulatory changes impacting the consumer business and create strategies to support and address
Own consumer complaint management strategy including but not limited to overseeing all complaint analytics and reporting efforts, established feedback loop with the business and deploy advanced analytical techniques to uncover potential risks
Serve as subject matter expert on consumer protection matters, including but not limited to UDAP/UDAAP-related regulations and industry topics
Manage first line of defense Fair and Responsible Banking program with a focus on UDAAP and consumer protection risk mitigation activities, including business controls
Drive engagement model with priority trade associations and lead engagement with key external advocacy groups
Serve as key partner for Office of Government Affairs, Corporate Communications, and Office of Corporate Engagement on initiatives including regulatory policy efforts, and external communication strategies as needed
Represent the firm in external committees including Consumer Bankers Association
Qualifications:
8+ years of relevant experience; 4+ years of people management experience
Background in consumer banking required; prior regulatory experience preferred
Skilled in combining data analytics with product knowledge to generate actionable insights
Excellent stakeholder management skills; able to influence cross-functional teams
Problem solver and creative thinker, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Comfort and ability to present complex material in front of diverse stakeholder groups
Results-oriented -- ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive projects while focusing on the quality of work delivered
