Job Abstract

The Radiology cardiac stress test/pacemaker nurse functions independently as a member of the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging care team, which includes registered nurses, radiology/nuclear medicine technologists, cardiovascular technicians, nurse practitioners, medical students, medical residents, medical fellows, and attending physicians. This individual performs a range of cardiovascular procedures under supervision. This individual is aware of and considers the psychosocial and confidentiality needs with patients and families when delivering care.

This individual is responsible for helping to develop and implement systems to assure the smooth, efficient flow of both inpatients and outpatients as care of patients extends across all other departments of the medical center. Duties include, but are not limited to, education of patients and families regarding cardiovascular and radiologic diagnostic procedures, appropriate oversight and management of patient handoffs to ancillary personnel following testing procedures, administration of vasoactive medications and cardiopulmonary monitoring during a variety of cardiovascular diagnostic tests, and monitoring of pacemaker patients during MRI exams, and administration of thorough discharge assessment and teaching to patients who have undergone cardiovascular diagnostic testing or imaging within the radiology department.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

• Experience with cardiac pacemaker monitoring

• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.
• BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing
• Five (5) year of Emergency room experience
• Two (2) years of Interventional Radiology experience
