Job Summary
OPENING DETAILS:
Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day
Work Hours: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (1/2 hour unpaid lunch)
Salary Range: 43 (New employees to the district will begin at Step I. Exceptions based on relevant experience pending approval).
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, operate power mowing and
related grounds equipment to maintain District grounds and various athletic
fields in a clean and safe condition; trim and prune trees; prepare various athletic
fields for classes, sports and other special events. Service and adjust equipment
and perform other grounds maintenance duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Sufficient training and experience to demonstrate KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods, materials, tools and large power equipment used in groundskeeping; operation and maintenance of power grounds equipment, and tools used in grounds department; operation of vehicles used in grounds department; health and safety regulations pertaining to position; safe and proper tree trimming and pruning methods; requirements of maintaining school grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition; proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies; herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals used in grounds maintenance. ABILITY TO: perform responsible groundskeeping duties; operate and maintain power grounds equipment and tools; exercise caution and be alert to children while mowing school lawns and fields; trim and prune tall trees in a safe and proper manner; climb ladders and trees using climbing gear and equipment; maintain routine records and logs on equipment; understand and follow oral and written directions; use herbicides and other chemicals using safe and proper methods; work cooperatively and effectively with others; perform heavy manual labor; lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds using safe and proper methods and/or equipment; move objects weighing over 50 pounds using safe and proper methods and/or equipment; operate motorized vehicles and grounds equipment including manual transmissions. Two years grounds keeping or related experience including experience in the operation of power mowing equipment or trimming trees.
