Job DescriptionBecome aGovernment Relations Managerat Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, youll lead SCE external activities/engagements in a specified geographic area within Orange County (Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, La Palma, Santa Ana, Stanton and Anaheim, a municipal utility) and other areas assigned. You will be part of project teams and will assist in the development and delivery of public affairs strategies and tactics for major issues, programs, and projects. You will develop and provide assessments, intelligence, and recommendations to the team and will validate or supplement intelligence garnered from social media research.

- Manage relationships with elected officials, local government staff and community stakeholders. Network with key external stakeholders in support of assigned projects and business priorities.
- Regularly monitor local government and community activities and issues, including the timely review of city council, county board of supervisors, other local government body meeting agendas and land use/planning documents. Keep abreast of proposed public policies and administrative actions that may impact the Company and its customers.
- Lead response and resolution of highly escalated community issues related to programs/projects.
- Develop understanding of political/community landscape of assigned area(s), be conversant in social media tools as this position may be responsible for some level of social media presence (in coordination with Corporate Communications) and lead some community engagement efforts as a company representative.
- Identify community risks and opportunities and proactively incorporates these into outreach strategy. Provide subject matter counsel and guidance to internal team members and external stakeholders relative to handling company issues in communities.
- Work with project managers and support team; measure impact of work in either the communities served, or the projects supported.
- Provide support in an assigned role for the Organizational Unit (OU) and company emergency response, resiliency, and Incident Management Team (IMT) activations.

The essentials
- Seven or more years working experience in public affairs, government relations, or community relations.
- Experience developing outreach strategies crafted to target governmental and community-based entities.
The preferred
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Political Science, Business, or related field.
- Experience in a cross-functional environment balancing multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with social media tools for monitoring and engaging with stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze, summarize and recommend ideas and concepts to senior management in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner.
- Ability to handle and support multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and planning skills.
- Effective decision making, results delivery, team building.
- Strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to optimally handle stress and engage in continuous learning.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of initiative and ability to effectively interface and collaborate with all partners to help drive solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.

- This positions work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
