Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Plans, assigns, schedules, supervises, evaluates, and trains HVAC staff.
Develops, implements, and reviews a continuous preventative maintenance program for all buildings.
Surveys all mechanical systems owned by the County and develops maintenance schedules and procedures for each facility.
Orders and stocks essential parts and chemicals for all mechanical systems owned by the County.
Operates and maintains a low-pressure boiler system, adjusts heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, including pumps, condensers, and steam lines.
Observes and analyzes meters, gauges and control panels to determine operating conditions of equipment.
Makes adjustments or repairs necessary to insure efficient performance.
Locates and eliminates sources of mechanical trouble, and makes emergency plumbing and electrical repairs.
Supervises the work of employees involved in mechanical plant operation.
Plans and schedules work shifts.
Inspects mechanical systems construction and repairs in progress by County crews or outside contractors.
Checks, maintains, repairs and operates emergency generators.
Trains, assigns, schedules staff, and provide input for employee evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Two (2) years of experience performing duties comparable to a Plant Mechanical Technician II in Merced County.
Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
License: Possess a valid California driver's license at time of appointment and maintain. EPA Certification for Refrigeration Gas Recovery
