Job Summary:
As a member of the Mission Advancement team at Horizon Goodwill Industries, the Marketing & Public Relations Manager will lead our efforts to amplify community awareness of Horizon Goodwill’s mission and social enterprise initiatives. This position is responsible for crafting compelling narratives that showcase our impact, forge strategic partnerships, and highlight our transformative workforce development and human services programs. This position will have a direct impact on donations volume, retail thrift sales, and community awareness of our business services and the diverse programs available to those we serve. This is a key role in communicating Horizon Goodwill’s story and its vital contributions to our community.
Essential Functions:
Works with senior level staff to create and execute an annual marketing plan that markets the individual business segments and departments (i.e., donated goods, business services, workforce development, human resources, training).
Ensures that all marketing materials and efforts are conducted in accordance with Horizon Goodwill Industries graphic standards and Goodwill Industries International brand standards.
Designs marketing materials for the organization including but not limited to: print and online/radio/digital advertisements, social media posts and blogs, newsletters, posters, postcards, and brochures.
Manages social media presence across all platforms by posting content and monitoring customer & community feedback.
Works with outside vendors to maintain and regularly update the HGI corporate website.
Coordinates and/or assists with special events including store openings, customer appreciation days, donation drives, annual awards dinner, and other events as needed.
Reviews and analyzes results achieved from marketing campaigns and various events and makes recommendations for improvements.
Prepares reports and authors press releases, articles, scripts, participant profiles and other written materials to support marketing functions.
Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations and attends events such as chamber functions, civic group meetings, and economic development functions.
Other duties necessary and essential for the success of Goodwill.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in marketing or a related field and 2 years of related experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
In lieu of degree, 6 consecutive years of related experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
Proven experience developing successful marketing campaigns and materials.
Non-profit or other social enterprise experience a plus.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Working knowledge of relevant software programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Office, Google Analytics, social media and web design tools, as well as other graphics and video editing software packages that may be necessary to support marketing projects.
Ability to travel within the Horizon Goodwill Industries service area and occasionally to conferences/training opportunities in other regional/national locations.
Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required
