Function

? Operate walk-in abrasive blast cabinet and shotpeen equipment to clean surfaces of a variety of aircraft parts and materials.

Typical Responsibilities

? Follow prescribed procedures, operation sheets, ordinary drawings, and specified methods to clean rust, scale, corrosion, and other surface blemishes, imperfections, and accumulations for larger aircraft parts and material, using abrasive blast walk-in cabinet.

? Operate hand shotpeening equipment to shotpeen parts in accordance with specifications.

? Operate vapor blast booth, sandblast tumbling machine, and hand sandblast cabinet to clean surface of various parts, when required.

? Mask specified areas of parts, run test samples, check work, load machines with shot, grit, etc., degrease and clean parts, and other related work when necessary.

? Refer questionable conditions or recurring difficulties to working leader or foreman.

#SikorskyOpsDC Requires ability to use ordinary drawings as reference to determine areas to be shotpeened or cleaned, and use micrometers, calipers, etc. to check work. Also requires basic knowledge of shotpeening and abrasive blasting methods.

Experience: 3 to 6 months

High School Diploma or equivalent.
