Arthrex California Technology, (ACT) is located in Santa Barbara, California, and is a leader in new product development and medical education focusing on imaging and resection for Orthopedics. The NPD Team in Supply Chain, is responsible for supporting the local Engineering and Operations departments for new supplier selection and new products development. We are searching for a Co-op pursuing a Junior buyer with an Engineering degree to support the NPD team at ACT. The candidate will work with the NPD team to prepare, execute, and document reports that will help for future product commodity strategies but also will support the development of “Green” initiatives with external partners. For both subjects, the candidate will receive the support from the mentors. The conclusion of this partnership will be presented to other departments with recommendations on future action plan.
This internship will run from September 2024 – December 2024. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 30-40 hours per week at our Santa Barbara, CA facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Green initiatives:
- Intern will work with the manager to identify new projects that could be developed with our external partners.
- Find current partners who could support green development projects with ACT.
- Define “Green” criteria for future supplier selection to be supported by mentors and managers.
Education and Experience:
Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Supply Chain or Engineering. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Understanding of commercial relationships in industrial domains preferred.
- Understanding of Medical device certification preferred.
- Capacity to present data and reports with some recommendations.
- Knowledge of Environmental issues and Industry goals for developing better environment preferred.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
