Summary:
Assists in administering therapeutic treatment to assigned patient population. Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Graduate from a Physical Therapy Assistant Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association
2. Experience & Training Required:
a. Current licensure issued by the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Athletic Trainers Board
b. Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association
c. Active participation in professional healthcare organization preferred
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect, dignity, cultural compassion, diversity and inclusion.
b. Demonstrated clinical proficiency through successful completion of annual competencies
c. Professional verbal and written communication skills required for communication to referral sources, customer relations, interdisciplinary care and with other stakeholders
d. Willing to advocate for and work with persons with all disabilities/conditions
e. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the work environment (See #4)
f. Must be able to work in a high paced, dynamic environment with appropriate actions taken to facilitate patient care demands and experience expectations
g. Shows flexibility/adaptability in meeting environmental constraints and regulatory demands placed on services/service delivery. Rotates through selected treatment areas and/or facilities when necessary to facilitate organizational needs.
h. Assumes accountability for demonstrating Service Excellence Care and follows standard of behavior, six commitments, code of conduct, department policies and procedures and department work expectations
i. Ability to be flexible/adaptable in meeting environmental constraints and demands placed on services as is common with changing regulatory, reimbursement and managed care targets.
j. Minimally provides 40 hours clinical care annually (PRN ONLY)
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Very Heavy: Exerts in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
b. Ability to continuously stand and walk; frequently squat, climb stairs, bend to the floor, reach over the shoulder, kneels, twist, sit, stand and remain in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods of time
c. Requires standing and walking for long periods of time
d. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
e. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
f. Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment as position requires
g. Requires exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment
$24.68/hr - $29.62/hr
