Overview
The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME) team and timely processing of payrolls. Ensures compliance of state and federal payroll laws. Develops and provides training for the SME team and for the properties. Assists in the development and support of current and new systems utilized to record time and pay employees. Contact point for all team members.
Responsibilities
Supervises the daily activity of the Payroll SME team.
Ensures compliance with all state and federal payroll laws.
Analyzes existing processes and implements efficiencies when possible, including cross training of all SME for full support coverage.
Serves as tier 2 support on Payroll SME team.
Completes a final review/audit of payrolls and handles finalization process.
Creates and implements interface uploads for efficiency and streamlining of the payroll process, including implementation of new earnings/deduction coding as needed.
Creates reporting templates to accommodate the needs of the hotels.
Applies acquired knowledge to assist with payroll inquiries outside the scope of the day-to-day processing, inclusive of relocation, FLSA laws, reaching DOL regulations and interpretations of the current ordinances, and employer level taxation.
Performs any other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a shared service/centralized payroll environment.
Prior experience with Payroll/Timekeeper Systems, Vendor Interface(s), System Implementation, multi-state/location processing, Nacha/IRS regulations and how all related are directed to the W2 and 940/941.
Strong experience in Microsoft Excel.
Strong experience in UKG Kronos
CPP preferred
Strong leadership skills, motivates team members, provides assistance and training along with focused positive development of the team skills
Ability to multitask while meet tight deadlines, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and timely.
Self-driven with a high level of attention to detail.
Strong knowledge of payroll and time and attendance software.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Occasional travel (25-50%) to properties across the US is required.
