Mount Pleasant School District is a Transitional Kindergarten through 8th Grade district with three Elementary Schools, one Middle School, and one Transitional Kindergarten through 8th Grade Dependent Charter School. Nestled in the East Foothills of San Jose, it prepares about 1,500 students for high school, college, and careers.

Job Summary
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Teaches music to pupils utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
2. Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of school district.
3. Provides planned learning experiences that best motivate pupils and permit them to best utilize the available time and materials for learning.
4. Develops lesson plans and uses instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
5. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and citizenship needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
6. Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports and communicates with parents on the individual pupil’s progress.
7. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
8. Creates, with assistance from pupils, a functional and attractive environment for learning as through displays, bulletin boards, interest or learning centers.
9. Maintains professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the District and School, and self-selected professional growth activities as desired.
10. Performs basic attendance accounting and educational services as related to assignment.
11. Select and requisition books, instructional aids and instructional supplies, and maintains required inventory records.
12. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
13. Administer groups standardized tests in accordance with District testing program.
