Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for Teaching Assistants (TAs) for Fall 2024. There are openings for assisting CHEM 211 lab sections, on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Applicants must be pursuing an interest in the sciences in order to be considered (pursuing a major in chemistry or biochemistry is preferred, but not required).
Chemistry & Biochemistry TAs will get the opportunity to develop their understanding of the materials at hand, gain additional hands-on experience with instrumentation, gain further knowledge of topics that they previously learned, develop a professional relationship with new students, and develop their skills as educators.
Responsibilities
4-5 hour/week commitment.
Responsibilities include:
• Prior knowledge and reasonable mastery of CHEM 211 material;
• Availability to attend TA meetings taking place once weekly;
• Assisting students in lab with relevant concepts, techniques, processes, and instrumentation;
• Grading laboratory assignments in a timely manner.
Qualifications
In order to be considered, applicants must have earned a minimum grade of a B in CHEM 211.

Compensation
$12.00-$12.75 depending on prior TA work experience in the department.
