Shift - Monday to Friday, Day shift, OT as needed
What this job involves - The Utility Engineer supports operation, inspection, and preventative maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. The Utility Engineer role is to support the engineering team and follow direction of the Chief engineer and senior team members.
What is your day to day?
- Have basic knowledge and use of hand tools
- Will learn and expect to understand operations of air compressors, air dyers, water purification equipment, chemical systems, closed loop system water chemistry, refrigeration/HVAC equipment, diesel generators/electrical distribution
- Perform maintenance, monitoring repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility
- Maintains responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, contracted maintenance, general maintenance and technical proficiency
- Review assigned service requests and provide accurate details to pinpoint and correct recurrent operational problems.
- Maintains service documentation
- Maintains and takes all required company safety training
- Performs all facility equipment repairs
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace
- Makes weekly tours of the interior and exterior of the buildings and documents findings on a Building Inspection/One-Click reporting tool
- Analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required
- The role involves long periods of standing, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, bending and other such physical exertions.
- The role also involves some time at a computer desk, documenting work in the Work Order System.
- Assist Operating Engineers in the proper management of the flow of parts and tools
Desired experience and technical skills -
Required
- High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years of trades schooling
- 2+ year(s) experience in electrical system design, refrigeration and HVAC
- Ability to work overtime to fulfill work orders in a timely manner
- Ability to mentally and physically react effectively, quickly, calmly and rationally in case of an emergency
- Join Local 39 Union
Preferred
- Experience in a pharmaceutical or life science environment
- Knowledge in HVAC, Mechanical and Electrical processes and troubleshooting. (Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Air Conditioning, Pumps, Generators, UPS etc.)
Work Environment
- Physical ability to inspect both outdoor and indoor facilities areas in manufacturing and research environments
- Current Driver’s License and the ability to operate motor vehicles
- Participation in Medical Clearance and Medical Surveillance programs
- Security Background Check and Clearance

Estimated compensation for this position is:
36.00 – 36.45 USD per year
