We are the Wi-Fi Quality Assurance team under the Customer Promises Equipment Design and Development team and part of the Technology and Product Experience Division of Comcast. We are responsible for the testing of all new products containing the latest Wi-Fi technologies utilized on routers, laptops, home devices, mobile devices, TVs, etc.
Comcast’s products use the latest and most innovative technologies, one of them being Wi-Fi 7!! and Comcast is currently developing new wireless gateways that use it. The student’s responsibility will be to help on product testing, result analysis and creation of reports to be presented to higher levels of management.
The student will be involved in a very dynamic environment with various roles contributing to his/her development. Part of their responsibilities are to run different types of testing, such as:
Functionality and new features
Throughput performance (speed tests)
Interoperability
Capacity and stability
Roaming and steering
End user experience testing, among others.
The student will be working with a Senior engineer who will be training him/her on:
Test methodologies
Testbeds and test equipment of the latest Wi-Fi technologies
Tools to record what was tested and the results
Tools that generate reports after testing
Creation of test cases
Creation and tracking of tickets that record software issues found during testing
The student will also be involved in meetings with other important groups during the product development such as software development engineers, hardware development engineers, architects, program and product managers, among others.
This is an awesome and very dynamic environment, and you will be exposed to new problems every day, to new troubleshooting techniques and discussions of different ways to resolve problems. Your interaction will contribute to exciting developments in one of the most important companies in the Philadelphia area!
You will also learn some program management, strategies, and the product development cycles.
Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Creation of new test cases and test suites
To use the Test Case Management tool to manage the tests and their results.
To run test cases based on the test suites created
To create reports of the tests run
To record any issues found in the JIRA defect tracking tool
To follow up with development engineers the defects created and work with them to resolve the issues
To help on the troubleshooting of issues
To use cutting edge technology test beds for running performance testing
Deep technical understanding and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Majors: Electrical Engineering – Telecommunications Specialization, Computer Engineering, Wireless Engineering, Networking Engineering.
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track.
Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting September 23, 2024 through March 28, 2025.
Available to report in-person to the work location provided above.
3.0 minimum cumulative GPA preferred.
