Overview:
Responsible for Risk Management and Operations responsibilities within the Consumer Lending product group. Plays an integral role in assessing and remediating identified risks from internal or external sources as well as proactively planning strategies to reduce future issues. Drives the completion of necessary operational work within service level and accuracy standards. Primary focus of work is in the Consumer Lending product set of Credit Card, Overdraft Line of Credit (ODL), Installment Loan, and Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC).
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for assessing and completing work on Findings, PREs (Potential Risk Events) and associated Remediation Plans driven by internal or external review
Manage a team of 3-7 direct reports assigning appropriate objectives, development plans, and coaching activities
Proactively look to test existing product lines to ensure they operate as designed and as disclosed to customers
Review and refine operational model with product management partners to create future vision of interaction between Risk/Ops and the product owners
Partner with assigned first line risk, legal, audit and compliance resources to ensure alignment on timing and resolution of findings/remediation plans
Sets strategic direction for assigned product lines, and presents business plans to senior management and employees
Review new developments in company markets, evaluating and recommending new services or new products, or the modification of existing services or products. Evaluate new product/services success; implement and manage changes in service or marketing strategy
Manage all risk aspects of new product implementation and existing product modification to include but not limited to the design and development of services, portfolio acquisition and process improvements; act in a liaison capacity with affected departments
Review new developments in company markets, evaluating and recommending new services or new products, or the modification of existing services or products
Evaluate new product/services success; recommend changes in service or marketing strategy. Recommend product pricing, understanding the cost structure
Ensure product/services are marketable, profitable and comply with legal and regulatory requirements
Maintain an awareness of new trends and developments in marketing and company products and services as well as the risk and regulatory environment
Assist in responding to regulatory exam inquiries and follow-up
Maintain/update disclosure, policies and procedures owned by Consumer Lending Product Management
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
Complete other related duties as assigned
Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities:
Manages a team of 3-7 Product Managers
Assigns appropriate objectives, development plans, and coaching activities
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
7 years’ proven marketing, product management, financial, operations and/or project management experience
Education and Experience Preferred:
Proven leadership experience (leading teams, delegating work, eliminating roadblocks, coaching/developing others, performance management, etc.)
Product knowledge of lending products to include Credit Card, Overdraft Line of Credit (ODL), Installment Loan, and Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC)
Consumer Lending systems knowledge (TSYS, SHAW, DASH, CPS, etc.)
Product Management Operations experience
Risk Management experience
Working Model/Locations:
This is a hybrid position requiring three days in-office and can be based out of any four M&T Bank hub locations below. Eligible candidates must live within commuting distance to one of our offices below. Applicants residing outside of the Buffalo market should be prepared to travel to Buffalo at least quarterly.

Anticipated Travel Requirements:
Employees in this position should be prepared to travel at least once per quarter (primarily to Buffalo). Travel may occur more often than this and is based upon the needs of the business and manager discretion.
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $100,611.94 - $167,686.57 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
