Job Summary
Under the supervision of the site administrator provides sequential standards-based animal science and agriculture instruction for pupils in grades TK, K, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, or a combination thereof, and assists in other school programs as assigned. Creates a flexible elementary grades program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Establishes effective rapport with students to motivate them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide students with a foundation aligned to the Model CTC Agriculture and Natural Resources Standards. Establishes good relationships with parents and other staff members. Collaborates with the classified staff Animal Science and Agriculture Enrichment (ASAE) Program Worker.
Is assigned a classroom of students for a designated time on a rotational basis and is responsible for providing instruction, managing, and supervising students. Under the Animal Science/Agriculture & Natural Resources Teacher's direction, students will handle and interact with soil, seeds, plants, and animals and various tools and equipment associated with agricultural and animal husbandry. Is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment for students and ensures that proper resources for plants and animals are available. Communicate with teachers, staff, and students protocol for behavior and expectations within the farm setting and classroom. Works with site-level administration for scheduling. As requested, the Animal Science/Agriculture & Natural Resources Teacher communicates and shares information and events with the school and community.
