The Assistant, Merchandise Planning is responsible for supporting financial targets for sales, margin, and receipts by channel and department. Assistants will support bottom-up merchandise financial plans that align with Category and Planning Merchant strategies. In-season, they support the Merchandise Planner in maintaining rolling forecasts at the department(s) level and working with the Merchandise Planner to manage the business. Assistants will also work with Merchandise Planning Managers on ad hoc analysis and reporting. This role will support special events and seasonal peaks with analysis, reporting and preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supporting the Merchandise Planner for the assigned business in analysis and reporting.
- Responsible for updating weekly, monthly, quarterly reports and recaps.
- Support of the Merchandise Planner to develop a monthly department-level bottom-up build with a focus on sales, margin, and turn consistent with the category strategy.
- Gathers input from Buyers and Inventory Managers to maintain weekly inventory forecast.
- Supports special event preparation, analysis and reporting.
- Understand the current inventory level and evaluate forecasts based on BOM, receipts, and EOM plan.
- Support of the Merchandise Planner in identification of opportunities and risks, allocations, markdowns and promotions in order to achieve sales margin, and inventory objectives.
- Learn, build and maintain store clusters at Dept/Class level to tie back to financial plans.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
To join our band, you'll need the following experience:
- Associates or bachelor's degree from a college or university
- 1-2 years direct experience in retail, store operations, merchandising or allocation
- Knowledge of MS Office computer programs are required
- Strong personal organization and self-starter skills desired
- Analytic ability and curiosity to assist in identification and quantification of risks and opportunities.
- Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner.
- Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
- Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department, rental season and Music & Art's needs.
- Knowledge of MS Office computer programs are required
