Muncy, Geissler, Olds & Lowe, P.C., is seeking a full-time hybrid role, with a primary function of IP Docketing Specialist and a secondary function as IP Patent Paralegal.
IP Docketing Specialist function:
Primary job duties include reviewing EFS and EPAS receipts and updating the docketing database upon completion of USPTO submissions; ensuring USPTO submissions are complete and compliant; coordinating with IP Assistants to re-docket items appropriately; docketing status checks and follow-ups; conducting periodic status checks on pending applications with the USPTO; ensuring completion of the daily docket, and reviewing Private PAIR Correspondence Notifications, downloading applicable documents from the USPTO, and docketing the same. Complying with USPTO and MGIP rules and regulations, as well as other projects on an as-needed basis.
Additional job duties include, but are not limited to, reviewing, prioritizing, processing, and docketing incoming mail and e-mail, including correspondence from clients, correspondence from foreign associates, and incoming documents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; opening new matters and creating files; checking incoming documents for completeness and compliance with both USPTO and MGIP rules and regulations; and other clerical aspects of patent prosecution, such as client correspondence and invoices, preparing reports, maintaining spreadsheets and databases, proofreading documents, and preparing and filing documents with the USPTO.
Prior trademark docketing experience is a plus but not required.
IP Patent Paralegal Function:
Job duties include many aspects of patent prosecution from filing to issue, including docketing, billing, client correspondence, status checks, and preparing and filing documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Document submissions include, but are not limited to, new utility, PCT, design, provisional, and plant applications, original and supplemental application data sheets, recordation of assignments and other documents affecting ownership, declarations, powers of attorney, chain of title forms, priority documents, information disclosure statements, preliminary amendments, sequence listings, English translations, responses to pre-examination formalities notices (Notices to File Missing Parts, Notices to Correct Application Papers, Notices to Comply, etc.), requests for corrected Official Filing Receipts, corrective assignments, issue fees, responses to Office Actions, terminal disclaimers, extensions of time, requests for continued examination, continued prosecution applications, AFCP requests, notices of appeal, appeal briefs, reply briefs, requests for certificate of corrections, various petitions, maintenance fees, and other types of documents on an as-needed basis. Job duties also include obtaining IDS references from available online databases, and proofreading and formatting work generated by attorneys, patent agents, and technical advisors. Complying with USPTO and MGIP rules and regulations, as well as other projects on an as-needed basis.
