Job Summary Manages activities related to the support of the Positive Train Control (PTC) System, including single point of contact for issues, analysis, resolution, and coordination of activities between the Locomotive Mechanical Desk, Network Operations, Communications & Signals (C&S) and the Technology Data Center. Designs, develops and maintains processes necessary for effective coordination between the PTC support teams. Develops and manages PTC reporting dashboards for management visibility into the PTC system performance including but not limited to enforcements, violations and system health. Manages the interface between the field, network operations and the PTC support teams to ensure limited operational impact. Troubleshoots any issues with the PTC system and coordinates with the responsible teams to final resolution.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
Manage and triage incoming calls related to Positive Train Control issues.
Develop and execute processes needed to effectively manage the PTC support area.
Manage interaction between operations and other PTC departments to facilitate the resolution of issues while minimizing operational impact.
Provide dashboard measurements of PTC system health.
Audit incidents within the PTC system to ensure compliance with processes and regulations.
Manage and monitor incidents to resolution relating to issues with foreign railroad's PTC systems.
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
3 or more years of experience in Train Dispatching Systems, Communications and Signals (C&S), Locomotive Mechanical, or Technology related to Train Dispatching, Communications and Signals or Locomotive Mechanical
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED
5 or more years of experience in Train Dispatching Systems, Communications and Signals (C&S), Locomotive Mechanical, or Technology related to Train Dispatching, Communications and Signals or Locomotive Mechanical
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
5 or more years of experience in Train Dispatching Systems, Communications and Signals (C&S), Locomotive Mechanical, or Technology
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory standards
Knowledge of Train Dispatching System software
Leadership skills
C&S concepts and maintenance
Knowledge of IETMS and ACSES PTC software
Ability to evaluate information to make decisions, solve problems, and progress issues to closure
