Pay Range Information	Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary	The Assistant Director has primary responsibility for supervising the Fenestra Resident Directors as well as oversight and development of the First Year Residential Experience. The Assistant Director also conducts staff meetings and weekly meetings with Resident Directors, contributes to growth and improvement of all Residential Life and First year Experience (RLFYE) programs, and serves as part of the on-call rotation with other directors in RLFYE.
Responsibilities	Supervision Direct supervision of: 5 Fenestra Resident Directors (Pralle, Henley, Morlan, Sandhu, and Glass), 1 Graduate Assistant and 80 Resident Advisors Develop and support training for undergraduate, graduate, and entry-level professional staff. Weekly 1:1s with individual professional and graduate supervisees Provide regular feedback including annual assessment of professional and graduate supervisees Conducts meetings as needed · Implements employee discipline as needed First Year Residential Experience and Support Coordinate and liaison with Admissions partners for annual events for perspective new students, Preview Day Oversight, development, and assessment of First Year Residential programming curriculum Support First Year retention efforts and student follow up New Student and Family Orientation Support orientation events as needed Facilitate and develop residential specific programming during orientation i.e. Resident Advisor Community Meetings curriculum and large scale residential social programming Other Administrative Duties · Assist in managing license agreements and contracts for professional services and facility usage during Move In and Move out Manage and support appropriate budget management Participate in appropriate departmental and campus meetings Serving as conduct officer to adjudicate student conduct cases . Serve as part of “on-call” duty coverage with other directors in Residence Life and First Year Experience Serve on division or University committees as appropriate Serve as Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act
Required Qualifications	Master’s degree in high education, college student affairs, counseling or a related field Professional experience in Residence Life, Orientation, First Year programs, or related functional area Effective written and oral communication skills Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute logistics for special events, including coordinating, catering and facilities Knowledge of student development theory and issues relevant to higher education Prior experience in Student Affairs working with students in higher education Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize duties when faced with interruptions, distractions, and fluctuating workload Excellent problem solver Experience managing a budget Knowledge and understanding of training principles, methods, techniques and formats Experience in the planning and development of individual and group training programs Analytical skills to assist in evaluating program effectiveness and recommending change Ability to use tact and diplomacy and to maintain a high level of confidentiality Strong commitment to teamwork and customer servic
Desired Qualifications	4+ years previous full-time professional experience in Residence Life, Orientation, First Year programs, or related functional area Experience supervising professional staff A general knowledge of understanding of University Contracts and Agreements Working knowledge of University policies and procedures that pertain to the duties of the position
