Position Title: Model Validation Specialist
Business Unit: Risk Management
Reports To: Director of Enterprise Risk Management
Position Overview:This position is primarily responsible for all aspects of model validation activities used for evaluating model risk for all parts of the enterprise. The incumbent performs validations of quantitative models in compliance with OCC 2011-12 and our Model Validation Policy and Guidelines including various model types such as Var Models, simulation models, pricing and asset valuation models, capital models, loss forecasting models, credit scoring models, trading models and asset and liability management models applied to a wide variety of assets and liabilities.
Primary Responsibilities:Understands the conceptual framework and assumptions of statistical and business models used throughout the organization. Understands how models are used in the business decision making process and the material impact to our financial statement and risk measurement.
Collects data and assumptions that are used in the models including model output in preparation for the model validation.
Conducts robust and comprehensive model validation testing and analysis according to the corporation's Model Validation Policy and Guidelines. Independently reproduces statistical analyses to validate model outputs.
Assesses model risks and limitations and makes recommendations on model use and remediation of model deficits. Writes reports detailing conclusions of the model validation and present findings and recommendations to senior leaders.
Participates in other model validation activities such as the discussion of Model Validation Policy and Guidelines and the improvement of model validation practices.
Interfaces with senior leaders, quantitative analysts and regulators to explain and defend model validation results.
Helps business units set up action plans to resolve findings resulting from model validations. Tracks action plans related to model validation findings and provide periodic reporting to senior management and regulators.
Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
