The Position
The City of Encinitas seeks a highly motivated and creative individual to fill a Multimedia Internship position. This internship provides an exceptional opportunity to gain valuable experience in a professional government setting, contributing to the successful execution of live broadcasts and official City Council meetings. Audiovisual hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting will be a primary focus of this role in addition to video production, video switcher operation, and video conferencing.
Interns are responsible for performing a variety of activities in a learning capacity for an assigned area.
Examples of Important & Essential Duties (included but not limited to)
Assist with the set-up, operation, and breakdown of various audio, video, and lighting equipment used for live broadcasts and official City Council meetings.
Learn and apply video switcher operation and troubleshooting techniques to ensure seamless transitions and high-quality production during live events.
Gain experience in post-production video editing and conversion software, adhering to established City formatting guidelines for archiving and distribution of meeting recordings.
Demonstrate strong technical aptitude in troubleshooting audio, video display, and encoding equipment to maintain uninterrupted broadcasts and meeting recordings.
Provide technical support for Audio-Visual functionality within designated conference rooms used for City Council meetings.
Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends in the live broadcast and multimedia production field.
Ensure consistency with the City's branding and marketing standards in all multimedia projects related to City Council meetings.
Assisting in the development and delivery of training sessions for staff on teleconferencing software programs used for remote participation in meetings.
Documenting technical solutions and procedures for future reference and knowledge transfer.
Participating in additional multimedia projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications
18 Years or older
Able to work in-person at Encinitas Facilities
Ability to lift audio and video equipment of 25-40 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., Communications, Media Arts, Film Studies) or possess a recent degree in a related field.
Strong interest in multimedia production and audio-visual equipment and software.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive and collaborative work relationships.
Ability to work independently while also thriving in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Interest in emerging technology related to multimedia production
Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a dynamic work environment.
