Role Summary
Free People Movement is seeking a Temporary Design Assistant to support our Outwear and Snow team! This role works in support of the Designer with seasonal development calendar by executing original design ideas and business goals. FP Movement. A destination for life well-lived.
Role Responsibilities
Manage building and updating packs for key milestone meetings.
Sample management, photographing samples and details for design team.
Maintain an active role in the weekly Design Flow Meetings. Take notes and manage follow up communication on all outstanding issues in collaboration with Designer.
Support seasonal development calendar in partnership with designer/buyers/technical designers/production.
Execute specific design development projects as assigned by Designer and manage development and execution of trim and artwork packages.
Set up spec sheets for all private label product & assist Design Lead with market developments & follow-up communication as needed.
Partner with PD on the status of styles in development daily to ensure product execution meets design specifications and are on track in style development process.
Assist in completing technical sketches for domestic and overseas programs, set up spec sheets for all private label product & assist Designer with market developments as well as follow-up communication as needed.
Prepare development packages and participate in follow up communication related to each package.
Review incoming garments with Designer and PD partners to ensure they are correct and in line with original intent as well as brand standards.
Assist in sample & rack preparation for monthly sales review meetings by collaborating with Designer on innovative presentations that effectively communicate line to Buyers and Brand leaders.
Perform special tasks as needed.
Role Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design and some industry experience is preferred.
Ability to be ON SITE at our offices in Philadelphia, PA 4-5 Days per week.
Design tools: Procreate, Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, Wacom tablet)
Sewing, draping, mocking experience
Excellent communication skills to communicate ideas and inspirations to others and to interact with Designers, Buyers and other Cross Functional partners.
Strong organizational skills and ability to intuitively respond and reprioritize as needs shift during the development process.
Entry level technical knowledge of apparel construction.
Entry level knowledge of fabric treatments as well as wash and dye techniques
Ability to hand sketch and communicate design ideas via computer program.
