Posting Summary	Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Full Time Dental Assistant for the Central Region facilities based at Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Yardville, NJ and supporting locations in Trenton and Wrightstown, NJ. The Dental Assistant will assist the Dentist during the examination and treatment of patients. Perform certain inter-oral tasks in response to specific instructions from and under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. Interrelate and work effectively with inmates, other members of the dental staff, medical and nursing staff, correctional staff at all levels, administrative and support staff. Among the duties for the position: Clinical 1. Prepares operatory with appropriate instruments and material for the patients scheduled to be seen. 2. Provides chair-side assistance during treatment recognizing the dentist’s need for instruments, material, retraction or suction. 3. Mixes and fabricates restorative materials. 4. Sterilizes instruments and disinfects operatory between patients. 5. Develops and mounts routine radiographs. 6. Assists in exposing intro-oral and extra-oral radiographs. 7. Maintains and cleans x-ray unit, film processor, autoclave, wet tank and dental unit in accordance with specifications. 8. Performs laboratory procedures such as mixing impression material for dentures and assist in the clinical procedures of prostatic dentistry. 9. Assists with infection control, general cleanliness and sterile conditions for the dental unit. Administrative 1. Orders and keeps inventory of supplies to maintain established levels. 2. Controls and manages the dental sharps and instrument inventory. 3. Assists in maintaining dental charts, dental findings, maintains confidentiality of the dental record and schedule patients for dental appointments. 4. Collects requested data for dental clinic reports.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities	Graduate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program. Certification as a Dental Assistant in the State of New Jersey. Valid Dental Radiology Technology License issued by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. Must be certified in CPR. Computer literacy Valid driver’s license is required. Possesses own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
