Examination Procedures And Information
THE EXAMINATION: Exam Weight Supplemental Questions: Qualifying Written Examination:50% Qualifications Appraisal Interview: 50%
The supplemental questions to the application will be reviewed and rated for certification. These questions are required at the time of application and are qualifying.
An eligibility list will be established for successful candidates which will be used to fill substitute and regular positions during the life of the list.
Examinations and interviews held to create the eligible list will be conducted virtually, using different online/internet platforms that require video recording or conferencing capabilities, as well as access to a computer with an internet connection and basic Microsoft Office Suite Software.
The virtual written examination is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 24th. The virtual qualifications appraisal interview (oral exam) is tentatively scheduled for the week of July 1st. You will be contacted via email, as indicated on your application, regarding your ability to participate in the examination phase of this recruitment.

Job Responsibilities
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Be responsible for performing those duties which protect the health and safety of students while under the jurisdiction of the transportation department. Provide positive guidance of students on the bus and inform supervisor of any problems. Conduct inspections on appropriate equipment and report condition to supervisor. Align non-wheelchair students in seats and assure that safety measures are followed for all students. Assist the Bus Driver in securing wheelchairs properly to meet safety standards and check security of all straps and wheelchair trays. Align student wheelchairs once placed on the bus and throughout the ride. Monitor alignment for safety, health and well-being of the student. Be knowledgeable about all assigned student’s special needs. Provide support to the Bus Driver in maintaining a safe and orderly environment. Ensure student safety during emergency evacuation drills. Inform the bus Driver/supervisor of any unsafe situations. Work in cooperation and communicate positively with all District personnel, parents and staff. Maintain confidentiality.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Rules regarding safe and comfortable transportation of students. Methods for conducting inspections on appropriate equipment. Securing wheelchairs properly to meet safety standards. Appropriate positive guidance of students. Effective time management. Use of seat belts and safe loading and unloading procedures of students on buses. Concepts and principles of child behavioral characteristics. Behavior management strategies and techniques utilized with students exhibiting atypical social behaviors. Appropriate English usage and oral communication. Basic record-keeping techniques.
ABILITY TO: Work with the bus driver in the safe transportation of students. Monitor, observe and oversee appropriate student behavior. Understand and relate to children with special needs. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Maintain confidentiality and communicate positively with parents, children, staff and the community. Be a team worker. Facilitate communication between parents and the District. Maintain records as necessary. Attend trainings/staff meetings as required. Check to see that all children are on/off the bus at respective stops and at the transportation yard.
