The UCSF Office of Clinical Trials Activation has a dedicated team of Clinical Trials Activation Analysts, who are responsible for developing and negotiating budgets for a defined group of faculty, and for performing coverage analysis to determine where study costs should be charged. The Budget & Coverage Associate provides support to this team. Supervised by a Team Manager, the Associate is responsible for independently gathering and following-up on clinical trial budgets with Principal Investigators (PIs) and project collaborators, as assigned. The Associate assists in maintaining contract records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies and supports data entry into the OnCore clinical trial management system to document the status of all steps pertaining to budget and coverage analysis in the task management module. The Associate will support studies of diverse scope where analysis of data, and is expected to learn and engage with complex regulations and medical coding procedures. The Clinical Trial Activation Team is assigned a portfolio of disease programs and investigators with a target timeframe for opening new studies within 120 days.

Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles
Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures, and techniques
Bachelor's degree in related area and one year experience or equivalent combination of experience / training
Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions
Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Writing skills to draft persuasive text for variety of audiences
