The Senior Tax Accountant is a key contributor in the timely and accurate preparation and compliance of corporate indirect tax for the organization with a focus on sales and use tax, and property tax. This role has indirect tax responsibilities for the US legal business entity, as well as operational accounting activities requiring knowledge of the theory and practice of recording, classifying, examining, and analyzing the data and records of financial transactions.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Primary contact in the tax department for US entity, external tax consultants, and third- party vendors.
- Coordinate with various TaylorMade departments including IT, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable to ensure proper recording of sales taxes by jurisdiction, including application of correct sales tax rates and proper analysis of use tax accruals.
- Lead indirect tax reporting/compliance process for US state and local sales, use, and property taxes, ensuring that all required indirect tax reporting is prepared and filed in a timely manner.
- Work with external tax consultants to provide monthly sales and use tax data for preparation of tax returns.
- Coordinate timely and accurate completion of tax return requests, audit requirements, and ad hoc requests.
- Primary contact for any future sales, use, and property tax audits that occur. Coordinate with auditors to provide accurate, timely information and minimize company risk.
- Review, organize, log, and respond to all incoming tax communications and notices. Delegate tax requests to appropriate team members or external advisors where necessary.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly cash and General Ledger forecasts for payments and accruals of sales, use, and property taxes.
- Responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks (including input of journal entries and schedule preparation for indirect tax matters during month-end close; preparation of monthly Balance Sheet tax account reconciliations, schedules, and summaries analyzing and evaluating tax-related General Ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness).
- Coordinate with the Credit department on the collection and management of required exemption certificates for customers.
- Prepare any required sales tax exemption certificates for the Company as requested by vendors.
- Complete special projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the tax function.
- Research and provide historical information and analysis.
- Recognize and implement process improvements in the department.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Education, Work Experience and Professional Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of Education, Experience, and Training which would provide the level of skills, knowledge, and abilities required.
- 5+ years of related indirect tax experience with a focus on sales and use taxes in a multinational company or public accounting firm.
- CPA is highly preferred.
- Oracle experience is a plus.

- Knowledge of Indirect Tax principles, practices and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Proven ability to work independently and as a team, join data from various sources and develop creative and innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment.
- Advanced skills in Excel. Strongly proficient skills in Word, PowerPoint and Business Objects (or other reporting software).
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Normal office environment, heavy computer use.
- Must be able to work extended hours as needed.
- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
- Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach.
TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $95,000 - $108,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
