Job Summary/Basic Function
The Director of Parent & Family Engagement serves on the Director team in College Advancement and is responsible for developing & managing all fundraising & engagement strategies for Dickinson parents and families. The Director is a primary contact for parents when their students matriculate. The Director has strong relationships across the college including student life, enrollment and academic affairs to connect parents for assistance, questions, or volunteer opportunities. The director will identify, recruit and manage parent volunteers and manage the Parents Leadership Council, oversee the legacy programming and manage all communications to parents.
Essential Functions:
Lead and manage all fundraising and engagement efforts for the College’s parent and family program. Work closely with Prospect Research & Strategy, Individual Giving, Annual Giving, & the McAndrews Fund teams to develop and implement strategies to maximize engagement and giving to the college by parents. Oversee strategy to annually reach $1.5M+ in parent giving to the college.
Manage philanthropic relationships of highly rated parents, which includes, but is not limited to identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Maintain a portfolio of 75-100 high level parent prospects; annually set and reach goals for number of visits, major gift asks, and JDS asks. Participate in strategy meetings and maintain a knowledge of college priorities that may match donor passion and interest. Collaborate with College Advancement colleagues on solicitations of highly rated parents that may be in other portfolios.
Serve as a highly visible, knowledge and articulate representative of Dickinson College with the objective of building a community of highly engaged parents and families. Work closely with Alumni Engagement and the Paz Center teams to develop strategies to use the Paz Center to engage families. Serve as a partner to Alumni Engagement for planning Homecoming & Family Weekend. Support Enrollment and Student Life parent programing including virtual sessions, summer send-offs, and accepted student events. Oversee and build the legacy program with Enrollment and Alumni Engagement. Collaborate and grow the Parent/Family/Student/Young Alumni programming.
Identify and recruit families to the Parents Leadership Council by soliciting gifts at the JDS level or more. Manage the volunteer corps and oversee the PLCs programming. Set and execute fundraising metrics for the PLC. Act as a liaison to connect parents to campus partners for additional volunteer opportunities.
Create a multi-channel annual communications strategy with Marketing & Communications that includes campus updates, campaign updates, engagement opportunities and annual solicitations.
Manage the Parent & Family Engagement department including goal setting, budget, professional development, and staff. Partner with the Alumni Engagement team to support the Paz Center operations.
Serve as a visible campus presence. Work in person at the Paz Center as required. Attend on and off campus events on behalf of College Advancement. Attend strategy and campaign meetings as necessary. Develop relationships on behalf of College Advancement with campus partners. Report on parent engagement and fundraising progress. Occasional travel is required.
