Essential Functions:
Ensure safety of students
Maintain accurate and complete records as required especially for auditing purposes
Provide guidance to students to promote their educational development
Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, and materials
Accompany, supervise, and chaperone the trip
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
Refer attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to principal and/or school counselor
Supervise students at all related activities (Chance Auction, Washington, D.C. Trip)
Interact with Superintendent and/or Board of Education and present information as requested
Arrange for transportation for the trip to Washington, D.C.
Ensure trip monies are accounted for and processed through proper student activity account
Supervise and oversee all fund-raising activities
Schedule meetings, and secure building for related activities
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Promote good public relations
Serve as a role model for students
Respond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate manner
Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal
Counsel, advise, encourage, and motivate students
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university
One to two years teaching 8th grade Social Studies preferred
Availability to meet with the students during and immediately after the high school student day ends is preferred
Such alternative to the above qualifications as Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Social Studies and history
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
Effective, active listening skills
Organizational and problem-solving skills
Basic computer/word processing skills
