Under the general supervision of the Chief Communications Officer, this position has primary responsibility for building and maintaining strategic public information and communication programs for the City including: image enhancement efforts; interacting with media, citizens and other individuals and stakeholders; keeping the public informed of the operations and policies of City government; generating, promoting, coordinating and developing programs through marketing and multi-media; maintaining and creating content for Palm Springs Community Television and the City website; assisting and advising City employees on appropriate media relations, so that information is provided timely and in a manner easily comprehended by the public, and to do other related work as required.
As a member of the City's unclassified service, this is an "at-will" position and the incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager.
