About the Opportunity
The Diversified Products division of IPS Corporation is looking for a Mechanical Engineer in Collierville, TN to develop, design and implement mechanical solutions while managing constraints in space, time, cost, manufacturing, structural integrity and more. Reporting into the Plant Manager, this engineer with 3+ years of experience, will focus on industrial and production machinery with a special focus on process and equipment improvements while maintaining focus on cost reduction via attention to scrap, labor requirements, ergonomics and maintenance.
Some of the products developed in our facility are metal stamped parts, injection molded parts, manually assembled kits and rubber molded finished goods.
The role will be comprised of no direct reports, but will require collaboration within a team environment, and project-based organization and leadership of teams through proxies within the organization.
Travel will not be a primary requirement, but may be possible up to 5% by necessity.
What Youll Be Doing
- Utilize effective lean process design techniques to optimize overall manufacturing system performance by providing innovative solutions that integrate within the value stream.
- Facilitate feasibility studies and evaluations for the manufacture of new or different products on existing equipment.
- Develop and establish standard running conditions to improve Safety, Quality and Costs.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve current and potential operational issues utilizing structured problem-solving techniques and Six Sigma methodology.
- Develop new equipment / process, operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Create training tools, documents, and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability
- Identify causes of process variation utilizing the scientific method and recommend and drive corrective action
- Accurately assess ergonomic conditions within the manufacturing environment and provide practical solutions to eliminate ergonomic risk
- Exhibit persuasiveness to sell continuous improvement ideas to value stream management and delivery partners
What You Need To Have
- 3+ years of engineering experience with mechanical and process improvement aptitude
- BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/ Industrial Engineering or equivalent engineering experience
- Familiarity and experience working with molding and metal stamping machines
- Knowledge in structured problem solving tools
- Experience managing capital projects utilizing standard project management methods.
- Experience with CAD (Solidworks / AutoCad software packages)
- Six Sigma Certification (Preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams
