A DAY IN THE LIFE:
A management team member responsible for the execution of performance verification testing on the company’s multiple products. Supervises a team of test engineers and technicians responsible for testing Tandem’s insulin pump products and their system integrations.
- Ensures laboratory qualifications and equipment calibrations/qualifications are maintained in accordance with Tandem’s Quality Management System.
- Manages design verification testing for new product development and design changes to existing products.
- Mentors test engineers in test method development and test method validations.
- Provides direct supervision of test engineering employees as well as performance testing laboratories, resources, and test data to meet the objectives of the organization effectively and efficiently.
- Participates in systems engineering testing and troubleshooting of new and existing products.
- Participates in Design Review and Test Selection meetings.
- Participates in reviewing test plans and protocols and reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Writes and revises system performance testing work instructions, test protocols, and reports.
- Supports other departments as needed and considers companies goals and project-wide impacts in decision making.
- Supports the short-term planning for the department including headcount, budgeting, and training.
- Participates in the selection, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of staff.
- Ensures department staff is properly trained, per designated training plan, before assuming job responsibilities.
- Develops and manages schedules and performance requirements of staff.
- Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
YOU’RE AWESOME AT:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
- 7 years of experience as a test engineer or engineering test lead.
- Experience in testing of medical devices, especially medical electrical equipment.
- Good oral and written communication skills and able to champion own ideas and persuade others through effectively consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information as well as accepting and implementing ideas of others.
- Skilled at promoting team cooperation and a commitment to team success.
- Adept at seeing change as an opportunity to improve business performance and campaigning for it when necessary.
- Has working knowledge of federal and other regulations, e.g., QSRs, ISO 14971, or IEC 60601 series.
- Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Competent with MS Office suite including Word and Excel.
EXTRA AWESOME:
- Experience leading and accomplishing tasks that included directing at least one or more individuals; previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in testing of electromechanical devices controlled by embedded software preferred.
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 certified metrology laboratory preferred.
- Experience working in an IECEE Customer Testing Facility (CTF) stage 2 or higher preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $146K - $180K annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts.
