GSK is currently looking for an Associate Automation Engineer to join our team in Upper Merion, PA. As an Associate Automation Engineer, you will provide night shift engineering and technical support for the control systems used in the daily operations of Biopharm process. You will also be responsible for supporting, designing, and implementing changes to control systems. These systems include DeltaV, PLCs and integrated benchtop equipment. You will also support the process control team as it evaluates and deploys innovative technologies and implements modifications and upgrades to those control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support of site automation systems and network infrastructure during night shift support hours. These system types may include all or some of the following: process controls systems (Emerson DeltaV), manufacturing execution systems (Emerson Syncade), and PLC systems (Allen Bradley).
- Collaborate with building stakeholders throughout the automation lifecycle: gather system/end user requirements; complete design, implementation, and testing/validation of changes; maintain documentation; maintain and monitor various systems.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with process controls and manufacturing execution systems; generate recommendations and then develop/execute solutions to correct and resolve.
- Drive continuous improvement and support capital projects.
- Adhere to, develop, and continuously improve the operation and maintenance procedures for process controls and manufacturing execution systems.
- Support the maintenance and upkeep of the operational technology environment through work order execution and administration of systems, networks, databases, and accounts. This includes servers, hosts, and analytical equipment.
- Generate and maintain automation design specification and functional specification documents and ensure documents maintain good GxP documentation.
- Communicate with different operational groups to understand the process and business operations and communicate technical issues and opportunities back to the day shift automation team.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- BS/BA in engineering, life sciences, biology or equivalent technical discipline
- GMP experience
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Experience with systems/account administration, network design, and troubleshooting of Emerson Syncade, DeltaV or similar MES/DCS systems.
- Knowledge in current standards of control system platforms and computer system validation is preferred.
