Position Purpose:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at TAIT is responsible for overseeing the technological direction of the company, ensuring that the IT infrastructure and systems support the strategic objectives and operational needs of a design and engineer-to-order organization. This role leads the Global Technology Solutions (GTS) team, driving innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring robust cybersecurity measures. While not directly responsible for external, customer-facing technology products, the CIO serves as a strategic partner and provides support to the teams developing those technologies. Additionally, the CIO ensures that the GTS team delivers excellent customer service to the rest of the organization and rationalizes software tools to streamline operations and save costs.
Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities
1. Strategic IT Leadership:
• Develop and implement an IT strategy that aligns with TAIT’s business goals and market demands.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives to enhance design, engineering, and production capabilities.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to ensure IT supports the company’s strategic vision.
2. IT Infrastructure and Operations:
• Oversee the management and optimization of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud services.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of IT systems to support global operations.
• Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to protect company data and intellectual property.
• Identify and confirm gaps in ERP (Epicor) application and usability and develop strategic plans to optimize for speed and agility
3. Innovation and Technology Integration:
• Drive the adoption of advanced technologies to improve project delivery, such as AI and automation.
• Ensure seamless integration of design and engineering software with production systems.
• Foster a culture of innovation within the GTS team, encouraging the exploration of new technologies and approaches.
4. Project Management and Support:
• Support the delivery of complex projects by providing reliable and innovative technology solutions.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure IT systems meet project requirements and enhance efficiency.
• Oversee the development and implementation of project management tools and software.
• Prioritize various initiatives with competing demands, ensuring that critical projects receive the necessary resources and attention for successful completion.
5. Customer Service and Support:
• Ensure the GTS team provides excellent customer service to all departments within TAIT.
• Develop and implement processes that enhance the user experience and satisfaction with IT services.
• Act as a strategic partner to support teams developing external, customer-facing technology products, ensuring alignment with IT infrastructure and services.
6. Software Rationalization:
• Rationalize software tools across the organization to streamline operations and find cost-saving opportunities.
• Balance cost-saving measures with the need to provide robust, easy-to-use tools that enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Evaluate and select software solutions that align with TAIT's strategic objectives and operational requirements.
7. Team Leadership and Development:
• Work with the People team and GTS leadership to develop GTS “people strategy” that aligns with the business and technology strategy.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the GTS team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Implement training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the IT team.
• Promote diversity and inclusion within the IT department.
8. Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
• Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality IT services and solutions.
• Negotiate contracts and service agreements to optimize cost and performance.
• Engage with stakeholders across the organization to understand IT needs and deliver effective solutions.
• Partner with teams responsible for developing external, customer-facing technology products to provide strategic support and ensure alignment with IT infrastructure.
9. Budget and Financial Management:
• Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
• Monitor IT expenditures and optimize spending to support strategic initiatives.
• Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and IT investments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Professional Experience Requirements
• 10+ years of experience in a medium to large Information Technology environment, with proven success in senior IT leadership roles, preferably within a design, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
Knowledge & Skills, Desired Characteristics
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems integration, and cybersecurity.
• Must have experience with the implementation and roll-out of an ERP system
• Experience with digital transformation initiatives and advanced technologies.
• Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and best practices in how to leverage them including how they may be applied to TAIT
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the GTS workforce.
• Business acumen and a clear understanding of how transformation impacts revenue, profitability, and customer experience.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop top talent within an organization.
