<span 72="">Under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director, the Ultrasound Technologist III demonstrates competency and proficiency in all skills required to perform all routine and advanced ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols.
<span 72="">All technologists utilize independent judgment and the required knowledge to obtain high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images.
<span 72="">The technologist competently evaluates the technical quality of the images obtained before submitting them to the interpreting radiologist.
<span 72="">They educate the patient/family about the procedure and report all changes in the patient’s status, including initiating emergency response if required.
<span 72="">They accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems.
<span 72="">Ultrasound Technologist III acts as a resource and assists in the training of less experienced technologists in the department.
<span 72="">Assists with quality control duties and monitors/orders supplies for the department(s) as required.
<span 72="">Acts as a lead technologist in the absence of the technical supervisor/assistant technical supervisor.
<span 72="">Hospital-based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital-adjacent imaging center locations.
<span 72="">Performs other duties as assigned.

<span 72="">Education and Experience
Associates degree or higher.
Graduate of an ARDMS approved ultrasound program.
Minimum of five years of experience as an ultrasound technologist, preferably in an acute care setting.
Hospital/OP Imaging locations only: Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met. Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs approved program (exception for programs completed prior to 1994).
