Become an Information Technology Project Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, youll deliver programs and projects in the Customer Service technology portfolio, by providing agile project management, direction, and oversight to ensure high quality execution of technology projects within planned schedules and budgets. Youll exercise your strong interpersonal and presentation skills to build highly collaborative project teams and to effectively communicate to sponsors. To implement your projects, youll also be partnering with multiple sponsors at various levels of management, including IT organizations (Operations, Service Management, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Controls & Compliance), IT vendors, Customer Service divisions, Finance, Supply Management, and other SCE teams.

Core Responsibility: Provides project management oversight and direction to project teams to ensure solution and service delivery of initiatives within the IT Customer Service Portfolio. Directs project planning (scope, schedule, and budget), project initiation, project execution, and project closure by adhering to SCE IT standards and processes. Experience in working in multiple projects simultaneously. Good experience of using Microsoft projects
Sponsor Management: Partners and collaborates with multiple sponsors at various levels of management including IT vendors, Cybersecurity, Change & Release Management, Service Management, Operations, Finance, Supply Management, and clients. Understanding of Sponsor determination and engagement models. Aligns multiple collaborators to assess performance against project plans, issue resolution, and client concerns; effectively communicates with all levels of management.
Core Project Management: Handles all stages of the systems development life cycle, including analysis, estimation, design, evaluation, demonstration, construction, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support through warranty period. Understanding the V-Model of waterfall method. Ensures project outcomes satisfy requirements and quality targets. Monitors, measures and reports on project progress to management and clients. Leads forecasting, financial management, change control, risk management, and project tracking and controls for assigned projects. Management of ambitious timelines.
Agile Project Experience: Experience in handling projects in Agile setting. Understanding of Sprints, Minimum Viable Products and Kanban boards. Experience in estimation using story points. Understanding of control charts, burn down and burn up charts. Understanding of Agile principles and processes. Preferably certified in Agile (PMI-ACP) and experience with usage of Octane, JIRA and Confluence.
Project Cost Management: Handles project timeline and budget including cost plans, invoices, unit estimates, and work orders; develop 90% confidence in project estimates. Maintains project financials and ongoing project status in SAP and ITs project management tool. Understanding of Actual Cost (AC), Cost Variance (CV), Cost performance Index (CPI), To-Complete Performance Index (TCPI). Handles project dependencies including Change and Release management. Responsible for capacity planning, forecasting, and balancing of people resources across the business units, IT, and suppliers.
Project Risk Management: Proactively and independently handles project risks and issues against project scope, timeline, and budget. Uses project controls to ensure quality delivery of key project artifacts, including monitoring of quality and project performance metrics. Understanding of Qualitative and Quantitative risk management methodologies.
Project Communication Management: Conducts and participates in regularly scheduled project team meetings and Sponsor updates to provide general status on project results, achievements and overall project work. Timely updating of status reporting and communications across sponsor groups. Objectivity and brevity of communication of expected.
The essentials
- Seven (7) or more years of project management experience leading projects handling scope, schedule, and budget, involving technology implementations.
- Three (3) or more years of experience as a Project Manager, handling medium to large technology projects against scope, schedule and budget, using matrixed teams and resources, including vendors under statements of work and contracts (fixed bid and/or time-and-materials).
- Three (3) or more years of experience handling project quality, including quality assurance, metrics and quality controls.
- Two (2) or more years of professional work experience handling suppliers, service contracts, project metrics, and contracts to meet project objectives Solid track record as an agile project manager on web and content software development or cloud deployment projects.
The preferred
- Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or Information Technology-related field of study.
- Three (3) or more years of experience working in Information Technology in an electric utility.
- Three (3) or more years of IT portfolio and customer relationship management experience.
- Experience handling project quality including quality assurance, metrics, and quality controls.
- Professional training and certifications consistent with Project Management including\: PMP, Agile methodology (e.g. Scrum) certification, Six Sigma, ITIL.
- One (1) or more years of experience implementing projects using Scrum/Agile methodology and tools such as Jira, Octane, GitHub or equivalent.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with customer service systems, such as billing & collections, CRM, data warehouse and analytics, contact center systems, customer-facing web, and mobile apps.
- Strong communications skills, including experience developing and delivering presentations to all levels of staff including management and executive leadership
- Experience working in a matrix management environment, with the ability to achieve desired actions and outcomes through leadership and influence.
- Ability to make effective decisions that meet business needs while minimizing risk and operating within company policies and all levels of regulations.

- This positions work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs
