Our client, an autonomous driving vehicle company, is looking for a Wireless Network Technician/Administrator to join its team. This person will handle geofence carrier mapping (4G/5G) and audit carrier services. Additionally, you will support Vehicle Operators with network-related issues and collaborate with various teams to troubleshoot and enhance network stability on vehicles. For the right candidate this is a contract to hire opportunity. This is role has a hybrid schedule of 3 days (minimum) onsite at the Foster City, CA office.
Responsibilities:
Conduct regular carrier mapping (4G/5G) audits within assigned geofences, requiring travel across the Bay Area and potentially out-of-state.
Develop and monitor key metrics for carrier services, including costs and data usage.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform routine audits of fleet and user SIM cards.
Serve as an escalation point for Vehicle Operators facing Tier 1/2 vehicle network issues.
Work with the Data Science team to visualize carrier mapping data.
Troubleshoot network issues related to vehicle connectivity, including mobile router configurations, subnet issues, and SIM card activations.
Work with wireless carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile to ensure seamless vehicle connectivity.
Requirements:
2-4 years of IT experience, with a preference for networking.
Network+ certification or equivalent education level is preferred.
Proficiency with Linux, macOS, and Windows in an enterprise setting.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar ticketing and documentation tools.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and prioritization abilities.
Basic understanding of traditional network engineering concepts, particularly wireless technologies such as LTE and 5G.
Experience in IT helpdesk operations and working with external vendors.
Eagerness to learn and grow in the niche market of wireless network administration.
Willingness to travel 10-20%, primarily within the Bay Area and occasionally out-of-state.
Ability to understand core networking principles and apply them to wireless technologies.
Expected hourly pay range
$38 - $42/hr
